It's Been a Busy Summer!
A HUGE Congratulations goes to our club members who rated up this summer.....
Rebecca rated to her D2
Sam B. rated to his D3
Arden rated to her C1
Abby rated to her C+
Ragan rated to her HA
you guys rock!
While some were studying away for their ratings, others were honing their skills
in order to be as prepared as they could be for East Coast Championships.......More Congratulations go out to Ben F. for his completion of Tetrathalon Rally (that's a LOT of hard work!) and to Lisa in Eventing. In Tet, Ben's team finished 10th overall and 3rd in HM, and individually Ben finished 1st in equitation and 5th overall in the Intermediate Boys Division. In Eventing, Lisa's team finished 3rd overall and 5th in HM, while individually Lisa finished 9th in her USEA Beg Novice Division! Not only did these two have to travel all the way to Lexington Virginia, they endured blazing heat as well!
In the OTHER Lexington, Kentucky that is, Arden and Rachel are finishing up their week at the Pony Jumper Finals before both girls head off to college.....we'll miss you both!
Earlier this month, Megan, Dakota, Lisa & Ragan got to share some of their knowledge by teaching at FENCE day camp. We're not sure who enjoyed the sessions more, the campers or the girls! Speaking of FENCE, River Valley Pony Club has been invited to host an interactive booth at FENCE's Fall Festival on Saturday November 1. This is a fabulous opportunity to showcase to the community what Pony Club is all about!
RVPC wrapped up summer with some amazing August Activities....Super Session was a big hit, we had MANY visiting instructors who were so generous in sharing their time & knowledge with our membership. Lastly our pool party & silent auction at the Firby's resort was a wonderful way to regroup before heading off to school this week! thanks to all who participated & organized these events!
River Valley Pony Club (RVPC) is a local (Spartanburg Co., SC and Polk Co., NC) chapter of the United States Pony Club (USPC) and part of USPC's Carolina Region. The mission of USPC is to provide a program for youth that teaches riding, mounted sports and the care of horses and ponies, thereby developing responsibility, moral judgment, leadership and self-confidence.
RVPC is run by and dependent on parent participation and volunteers. As a supplement to your personal weekly riding program, RVPC offers small group riding instruction throughout the year for children seven to twenty-five years of age. Each rider provides his/her own mount for all mounted lessons. Programs are offered in dressage, eventing, show jumping, mounted games, tetrathlon, quiz, vaulting, foxhunting and polo crosse.
During "unmounted" meetings members learn about feeding, shoeing, veterinary care, and other areas of horse management. Under adult supervision, the more experienced Pony Club members instruct and assist younger members.
In Pony Club, the word “pony” is used for all mounts used by young people, regardless of size or breed.
You are encouraged to check out USPC's Parent Answer Booklet which will be able to answer many of you questions, even those you haven't thought of yet!
